The foundation of the agriculture community starts with our youth, whether they are helping out on a family farm, participating in 4-H, or getting involved in FFA they are the next generation of agriculture.
The GreenStone Caro and Bad Axe branches have both been supporting this next generation of agriculture by supporting local FFA and 4-H communities for several years now. One way they recently showed their support was by serving lunch at the soil judging contest.
“FFA teaches kids to be responsible, whether they are taking care of their livestock projects or competing in things like this event,” Corey Polega, senior financial services officer in GreenStone’s Caro branch, says. “It gives them a glimpse into the agriculture community and encourages them to be a leader and get involved.”
Together, the two branches fed about five hundred students and teachers lunch. As a team they cooked and served hot dogs and chips to help fuel their competitive minds.
“We feel the FFA organization’s mission aligns perfectly with GreenStone’s,” says Lori Leppek, senior loan processor in the Bad Axe branch. “It is a great way to make a positive difference in all of the FFA students lives to help them develop into the best people they can be.”
FFA’s mission is to make a positive difference in student’s lives and to help them develop in leadership, personal, and career growth through agriculture education. Similarly, part of GreenStone’s mission is to provide leadership to the agriculture community as well. This is why GreenStone is proud to help out organizations like FFA!
