“It’s an event that brings everyone together from families to car enthusiasts, and they’re equally excited to get their picture and a raffle ticket! It makes our day to see people enjoying these events,” Gina Siegrist, loan processor from the Lapeer branch, says regarding the Chrome and Ice Show that she and her husband volunteered at.

It’s a weekend-long show that starts on Friday with loading in cars and a VIP experience that evening. Siegrist and her husband helped set up for the event, then sold raffle tickets as they mingled with the community members there. The rest of the weekend is full of looking at spectacular cars people enter into the show.

The money raised from the raffle helps fund a scholarship program for local high school seniors. Back to the Bricks awards $10,000 to high school seniors in Flint and Genesse county pursuing a career in automotive, engineering, robotics, welding or related fields.

Back to the Bricks is an organization in Genesse County focused on uniting the community through events surrounding the automotive industry. This year is the organization's 20th anniversary, and the numbers continue to grow!

They do many events beyond this one, like Dust Em’ Off that happens in May or a tune up week in August. The opportunities range from outdoor, weeklong, and local car shows for everyone to participate in.

She and her husband began attending these events as members and later decided they wanted to volunteer to help these events go smoothly. They both are passionate about this organization.  Additionally, her husband has been serving on the board of the Back to the Bricks for three years now. Without the help of volunteers many of the events and car shows would not be able to happen. “We love to go anyway; it makes sense to help where we can. It’s so fun getting to bring the community together, " Siegrist vocalizes.
